GLAD, a socio economic development trust is the brainchild of Mr. L. Rajagopal, Industrialist-turned-Member of Parliament, Vijayawada. The main objective of the trust is the development of Vijayawada & the villages in Vijayawada Parliamentary Constituency. The service component is broken into two - solving existing problems and taking up new development projects. GLAD is managed by a group of experienced and well-known professionals in various disciplines headed by a CEO, who served as the Mayor of the Vijayawada city from 1987-92.

GLAD is also the Secretariat of Sri Rajagopal where the Office Staff attend to public grievances, complaints & forward their representations to concerned departments everyday. So far the Secretariat had successfully communicated to various departments regarding admissions in schools, bank loans, educational loans, allotment of house sites, pensions for widows & freedom fighters etc. 

On the Medical side another Trust for children called ‘Jawahar Balaraksha Nidhi’ had been opened on 2nd October 2004 through which children - infants to the age of 12 - are provided financial assistance to obtain Medical treatment especially for congenital heart diseases. Besides extending financial assistance GLAD has also sent to referral hospitals 200 children & infants for surgery.

Whenever required depending on the necessity individuals were helped monetarily. Clothes & financial assistance was given to victims of fire accident, during 2004-05. Financial assistance was also extended to families of accidental & unexpected deaths. Students in dire need of financial assistance were helped with their college fees. GLAD had also contributed tens of thousands to colleges for sponsoring various seminars.

Thus GLAD, the brainchild & Secretariat of Sri Rajagopal is ready to serve the needy all-round the clock.
